The Club was founded in 1990. Until 2014, it was known as the Club of Children’s Books Ilustrators.

Many are recipients of prestigious international and domestic awards. (BIB Golden Plaque, Premio grafico Bologna, honorable mention at Namibook Festival South Korea, Magischer Stift Muenchen, nomination for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, inclusion in the IBBY Honour List, Tehran Biennial Award, IBA Leipzig Award, White Raven IJB Muenchen, Grand Prix at Varna Animated Film Festival, Golden Ribbon, The Most Beautiful Book of the Year, Třeboň and Zlín Film Festival Awards, National Gallery Award, SUK Teachers’ Award, SUK Librarians’ Award, Slovak National Library Award)
In 1993, the Illustrators’ Club stood at the cradle of the annual Gold Ribbon award, which is awarded to the best authors of original Czech literature for children and young adults.
Members of the Illustrator’s Club actively cooperate in the organization of this award, selecting the jury for the illustration component of the award.
