Illustrators’ Club Unites top Czech illustrators. Strives to assure high-quality illustrations and graphic design, focusing primarily on books for children and young adults.

The Club was founded in 1990. Until 2014, it was known as the Club of Children’s Books Ilustrators.

Club members are top illustrators, several of whom hold teaching positions at colleges and universities. (Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art in Pilsen)

Many are recipients of prestigious international and domestic awards. (BIB Golden Plaque, Premio grafico Bologna, honorable mention at Namibook Festival South Korea, Magischer Stift Muenchen, nomination for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, inclusion in the IBBY Honour List, Tehran Biennial Award, IBA Leipzig Award, White Raven IJB Muenchen, Grand Prix at Varna Animated Film Festival, Golden Ribbon, The Most Beautiful Book of the Year, Třeboň and Zlín Film Festival Awards, National Gallery Award, SUK Teachers’ Award, SUK Librarians’ Award, Slovak National Library Award)

In 1993, the Illustrators’ Club stood at the cradle of the annual Gold Ribbon award, which is awarded to the best authors of original Czech literature for children and young adults.

Members of the Illustrator’s Club actively cooperate in the organization of this award, selecting the jury for the illustration component of the award.

Since 2003, the Illustrators’ Club regularly organizes a presentation of illustrations that travels through Czech and foreign galleries and libraries.

Since 2006, the Illustrators‘ Club collaborates with the Czech Section of IBBY. (International Board on Books for Young People)

The Illustrators‘ Club has been a member of European Illustrators Forum since 2015.

Illustrators’ Club may provide the contact information of its members to potential exhibitors, publishers, librarians and booksellers. Illustrators’ Club regularly organizes workshops and presentations for children in libraries and schools. Illustrators’ Club members serve as jurors at children’s art competitions. Illustrators can be admitted to the Illustrators’ Club upon presenting quality publications with their original illustrations or major awards for their work; alternatively, by submbitting a recommendation from their teacher. The admission of a new member is decided at the general meeting of the Illustrators’ Club members.

The Illustrators‘ Club general meeting takes place at least twice a year.
